Europe’s airlines1 and airports are highly concerned by the European Commission’s (EC) proposal to amend the airport slot regulation. The proposal does not sufficiently address the extent of the continuing crisis in air transport, the likely state of recovery in Summer 2021 and the required level. Assoclearance has been responsible for airport slot coordination at coordinated and facilitated airports in Italy since 1997. History and Organisation
Lead by the Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation, Slot Coordination Switzerland was established on 4 December 2003 as an independent non-profit company (legally as an association constituted under Swiss federal act) and is operative since 1 April 2004. The management and all personnel are directly employed by Slot Coordination Switzerland. Our head office is located at Zurich airport with a branch office at Geneva airport.

Slot Coordination Italy Vs
Both member groups (airports1 and airlines2) have an equal voting share.
As the European Slot Regulation stipulates that the coordinator shall act independently, the board oversees the company's financial and management matters, but has no involvement in slot allocation decisions.
Funding Scheme
Slot Coordination Switzerland is financed by the payment of a Slot Service Fee constituted under the Swiss Slot Coordination Decree (Verordnung 748.131.2) as follows:

- 50% paid by airports of Geneva* and Zurich by number of IFR flights operated
- 50% paid by each IFR flight operated to/from Geneva* and Zurich
The airline/operator* part of the slot service fee amounts to CHF 3.80 per turnaround operation (1 single slot = CHF 1.90). The billing process is done together with the landing fees at each airport.
